Tip Top Tutoring - English, Maths & History
Individualised Learning
It goes without saying, that falling behind can be disastrous for a child's education, particularly if a child is already struggling before they reach secondary school. If you are concerned about your child's academic progress, then I encourage you to act on your intuition and give one-to-one tutoring a go.
If you find your child is struggling to keep up in class or with their homework, make sure you intercede early on.
There are fewer distractions at home; with little noise and no disruption from classmates. The hectic classroom environment can often impact on your child's concentration and performance. For many children, the time with a one-to-one tutor is just what they need to thrive and develop an enjoyment of learning.
I love to motivate learners of all ages and firmly believe that building confidence is key. Your child will enjoy innovative teaching and also the rapport that is built between student and tutor.
The tutoring I provide will:
- Make learning enjoyable
- Create a unique learning experience
- Improve academic performance
- Boost confidence
- Improve attitude towards learning
- Focus on the needs of the individual
- Pinpoint strengths & weaknesses
- Increase skills, knowledge & understanding
- Accelerate learning
- Develop exam technique
I provide tutoring through Skype which is a very
effective method of learning and teaching. Through the use of technology, I can share personalised resources, mark work and feedback to students - in addition to our weekly scheduled lessons.

I have been a keen Historian ever since Miss Smith, my favourite school History teacher, opened the subject to me with great enthusiasm. I studied History at the University of Teesside (1993-1996) under Dr Tony Nicholson and Dr Tony Pollard. I specialised in modern German History and the Reformation.
I completed my PGCE in Secondary History and SEN at the
University of Leeds (1997-1998) under Professor Robert Unwin. Following my studies I went on to teach virtually everything in the secondary school curriculum but particularly loved teaching English up to GCSE and History to GCSE and A level students.
In 2007 I ventured into primary school teaching, delivering the whole curriculum and became coordinator for Religious
Education. I implemented and designed the whole R.E. curriculum across the school. I have extensive experience of writing my own resources and especially enjoy tailoring materials for individual students.
